Our team at Germain Automotive Partnership is passionately committed to supporting our community and the people who live there. Giving back and helping those in need is very important to us, and we do what we can to make our communities healthier and stronger. Owners Rick and Libby Germain lead the way and help engage associates to become involved with many of the organizations they are personally passionate about.
Supporting the community where we live and work is very important to me and my family. Our associates and customers live in this community and we want to do our part to make this city thrive. Partnering with organizations like The James Cancer Hospital, Nationwide Children’s Hospital, and supporting events like Pelotonia is an honor, and I feel lucky to be able to support the work they do.
Rick Germain
Rick and Libby are passionately involved in a number of charitable organizations in and around Columbus. Libby is a proud alumnus of The Ohio State University and supports the University in a number of capacities by serving on The Ohio State University Foundation Board. Libby has become very involved with Ohio State’s Comprehensive Cancer Center, The James. She serves on their Foundation Board and was a longtime co-chair of Up On The Roof, benefitting The James.
After the birth of their first grandchild, Rick and Libby Germain began advocating for the wellbeing of Nationwide Children’s Hospital and their efforts to take care of the children in our community. Libby serves on The Board for Nationwide Children’s Hospital and Rick serves on the Foundation Board. Throughout the dealerships, associates participate in various programs to support the work of Nationwide Children’s Hospital, including the On Our Sleeves campaign and Reach Out & Read.
The largest charitable partnership of the year each year for the Germain organization is Pelotonia.
Pelotonia is a bike ride fundraiser for the local cancer hospital. 8000+ people ride between 25-200 miles and get their friends and family to donate to their ride in the name of cancer research. There’s a minimum fundraising commitment of $1250 to ride. Rick was a Pelotonia rider for several years when he realized he wanted to help increase rider participation within the Germain organization. He realized that there were two barriers to entry for many associates: the fundraising commitment necessary to participate, or the equipment needed to ride. Since 2016, Rick and Libby Germain have made an offer to every associate in the organization that wants to participate in Pelotonia: they will provide them with the equipment needed to ride (bike, helmet etc), or will match half of the necessary fundraising commitment in order for them to participate.
Cancer has unfortunately touched too many Germain associates, family members and friends, so it is an event every year that many associates really feel passionate about. As a company, this is a very important cause and the Germain team has proudly raised over $380,000 in the last three years. In the last 11 years, Pelotonia has raised over $200 million. Every penny went directly to fund life-saving cancer research.
Rick serves as a board member for Recreation Unlimited, a camp for children and young adults with developmental and physical disabilities. Rick helps Recreation Unlimited raise the necessary funds to help run this organization that provides year-round programs in sports, recreation, and education for individuals with disabilities and health concerns while building self-confidence, self-esteem and promoting positive human relations, attitudes, and behaviors.
